The story behind Kolibri

The story behind Kolibri

Kolibri was born from a simple observation: many ambitious projects do not need to be replaced, over-advised, or controlled from the outside. They often need the right operating support at the right moment to accelerate, structure their next step, and become investable.

At the same time, many people want to contribute more directly to projects that matter, especially in countries or regions they care about. But they need a trusted and structured way to do it.

Kolibri is being built to create that bridge: a startup studio approach where skills can be mobilized through clear missions, local teams can be strengthened, and contributors can take part in the value eventually created and realized.

Why Kolibri

The name Kolibri is inspired by the legend of the hummingbird: faced with a great challenge, the hummingbird does not remain still. It does what it can, one drop at a time.

Kolibri is built on that same idea: everyone can play their part. Small, focused contributions, when well structured, can help meaningful ventures move forward.

The current team

A small founding team, building the right conditions.

Kolibri is currently led by a small founding team preparing the first pilot, refining the startup studio model, and building the trusted relationships needed around the project.

As the Rwanda pilot takes shape, Kolibri is building the broader network required to identify real needs, structure useful missions, mobilize contributors, work with investors, and anchor the model locally.

GH

Gil Honegger — Founder / Project Lead

Gil initiated Kolibri and leads development of its vision, model, and shared-value framework. He is preparing the first pilot and building relationships with future partners, project owners, investors, and contributors.

AM

Albert Mukwiye — Founding Partner / Contributor Engagement & Skills Transfer

Albert helps mobilize the first circle of potential contributors, particularly within the Rwandan diaspora in Switzerland and Europe, while supporting the skills-transfer approach and trusted relationships around the Rwanda pilot.

What we are building now

Kolibri is currently preparing its first pilot in Rwanda: identifying real project needs, starting to build local partnerships, speaking with investors and institutions, shaping the first structured missions, and preparing the future contributor approach before opening applications.
